This short course provides participants with a comprehensive introduction to contemporary tinnitus assessment and management. The course explores the foundations of tinnitus practice, including current physiological and psychological models, audiometric assessment methods, and the factors that influence tinnitus-related distress and quality of life. Participants will gain an understanding of how tinnitus is experienced, assessed, and managed within evidence-based audiology and interdisciplinary healthcare frameworks.
Building on these foundations, participants will develop practical knowledge of clinical assessment, goal setting, counselling, sensory management, and referral pathways. The course examines the role of hearing technology, sound therapy, perceptual training, and psychological approaches in supporting individuals with tinnitus. Emphasis is placed on person-centred care, empowering participants to select and tailor management strategies according to individual needs and circumstances.
The course also explores emerging developments in tinnitus care, including digital therapeutics, neuromodulation, and artificial intelligence. Through case-based learning and personalised management planning, participants will learn how to integrate assessment findings, clinical evidence, and patient goals to deliver effective tinnitus care across a variety of clinical settings.
