This foundational course is designed for health professionals engaged in women’s health in primary care. This course establishes a strong foundation for an in-depth understanding of menopause to enhance professional practice in this vital area.
We are currently experiencing a societal shift in attitudes towards women demanding better health care in mid-life and specifically menopause hormone therapy (MHT).
For health practitioners who graduated after the publication of the landmark Women’s Health Initiative research trial in 2002, they may have little experience prescribing MHT. The 18 year follow up data has now been published showing no increase in mortality between women who took combined MHT versus placebo. These data are reassuring and have opened up the dialogue again between women and their health practitioners about trying MHT to manage symptoms.
This course is aimed at filling a gap in knowledge and training to support GPs, nurses and nurse practitioners (and trainees) to feel comfortable assessing menopause symptoms and offering hormonal and non-hormonal management.
