This interactive 2-day short course is designed for everyday clinical educators working across a variety of disciplines. Composed of eight core topics, it covers the fundamental knowledge and applied skills to provide a practical “how to” guide for teaching and learning in the clinical environment.

Short course structure and topics covered:
The short course is delivered over two days, in person at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland.
The topics covered are:
- How to teach in the clinical setting
- How to use feedback for learning
- How to supervise clinical students
- How to plan a tutorial
- How to remediate professionalism lapses
- How to teach in small groups
- How to deliver inclusive clinical teaching
- How to teach and assess cultural safety
Short course benefits and learning outcomes:
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- develop and refine their teaching strategies
- apply evidence-based methods to improve learner engagement and outcomes
- engage with other clinical educators by sharing experiences and knowledge
Who Should attend? Any entry requirements?
This course is for health professions educators (i.e. doctors, nurses, allied health professionals) who are responsible for teaching, mentoring, or supervising students and trainees in clinical settings.
